What is Eyebrow Transplant?
Eyebrows are one of the parts that women pay attention to in their routine care. In general, they are among the most important factors that have an effect on facial beauty both in men and women. When the eyebrows are compatible with the face in terms of shape, thickness and volume, they enable the person to look young, dynamic and lively.
It is very important in terms of determining the gaze and facial expression, as well. Eyebrow transplant is today one of the most preferred aesthetic surgical procedures both in Turkey and the rest of the world, because it provides a natural appearance as a lifelong result, and does not cause pain during the operation.
Eyebrows become thinner or they are lost due to some factors such as age, race, gender, certain metabolic and psychological diseases, hormones, genetic factors, accidents, burns, and improper eyebrow plucking repeated for years. Eyebrow transplant provides a permanent solution to these problems.
How is the eyebrow transplant operation performed?
Before the transplantation of eyebrows, which are one of the most attention grabbing parts of the face and one of the most important areas that directly affect facial expression, a detailed examination is performed by the physician, and then a personalized eyebrow design is made that is most suitable for the face.
Eyebrow transplant is performed using the techniques called FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), which is the most common technique used in hair, beard and mustache transplant. The procedure performed under local anesthesia lasts about 2 to 6 hours, and patients don’t feel pain or ache during the operation. Patients are discharged the same day after the operation that is performed in the clinic. In eyebrow transplant, hair follicles extracted from the nape of the neck or other parts of the body deemed appropriate by the physician are used.
Hair follicles extracted using a medical device similar to tweezers called micropunch are placed in the eyebrow area, which has been designed to be have the most suitable shape for the face, in a certain direction and at a certain angle, based on the result of the detailed discussion between the physician and the patient.
Since the inner parts of the eyebrows extend upwards, the middle parts are parallel to the ground and the outer parts extend downwards, and since they grow out of the skin at an angle of about 10-15 degrees, unlike the hair, the procedure is performed by opening thin channels with a sapphire blade and then placing the hair follicles carefully. As a result, the eyebrows planted in accordance with the patient’s existing eyebrows and the designed plan gain a very natural appearance.
What are the points to take into consideration before eyebrow transplant?
Before the transplant, the doctor performs a detailed examination, and then the necessary analyzes are made accordingly, in order to know the patient’s health status and whether he/she is suitable for the procedure. The recipient area is checked to know how many hair follicles are needed. The number of hair follicles that differs from person to person is determined based on a variety of criteria such as the person’s request and expectation from the transplant procedure, whether his/her eyebrows are thin or he/she has not eyebrow at all, the thickness and shape of the eyebrows and their compatibility with the face, and then the procedure is performed accordingly.
Drugs that carry a risk of bleeding during the transplant process (blood thinners or supplements and teas with the same effect) should not be used. Patients should avoid taking any medication on the day of the operation without consulting the physician. If they use drugs on a regular basis, the physician should be informed about it before the operation. However, since the scabs fall out rapidly, patients can return to their daily lives and works in a very short time. The day after the eyebrow transplant, the patient comes to the clinic for the first postoperative examination. The patient’s eyebrow area, i.e. the transplant site, is washed and then the way of performing the washing process is explained to the patient in detail.
7 to 10 days after the operation, the patient comes to the clinic for postoperative examination again, and the physician examines the transplant site. About 3 months after the transplant operation, the transplanted eyebrows begin to grow. The result of the procedure begins to be seen completely within 8-10 months on average. the eyebrows take their final shape 1 year after the operation. No special medication is needed during the recovery period after the transplant procedure.
